Lung Cancer Screening is coming to part of Bolton in 2025
More people in Bolton will be offered a Lung Health Check in 2025 as part of the Greater Manchester Lung Cancer Screening Programme.
The Lung Health Checks will now be available to people who are current OR former cigarette or shisha smokers aged 55-74 and based at the following groups of GP practices (Primary Care Networks):
Chorley Roads PCN
Dalefield Surgery BL1 4JP
Spring House Surgery BL1 6AF
Heaton Medical Centre BL1 5PU
Cornerstone Surgery BL1 6AH
Wyresdale Road Surgery BL1 4DN
The mobile clinic will be based at Morrisons, Mornington Rd, Bolton BL1 4EU from Wednesday 9th April until Thursday 15th May, inclusive. The truck will move overnight on the 15th.
The Lung Health Checks are being rolled out based on where they are needed most. This is organised via individual Primary Care Networks (groups of GP surgeries at a time) at a time across Greater Manchester.
Lung Health Checks have already been offered to eligible people registered with a GP practices in HWL, Breightmet & Little Lever, Farnworth and Kearsley in Bolton. People who were invited previously who didn’t attend the first time can always rebook by their appointment by calling 0161 291 0900. Newly eligible patients will be invited by the programme team at a later date.
There are further plans to expand the programme to other parts of Bolton and Greater Manchester in the coming months and years to ensure that all eligible participants are invited. People who are not registered with the practices listed but who meet the eligible criteria (aged 55-74 and past or current smokers) will receive an invitation once the Lung Health Check comes to their PCN. In the meantime, if these people have any concerning symptoms, they should speak to their GP who will be able to refer you for tests if needed.
